JOB TITLE: Website Designer/Developer
JOB PURPOSE: Design, develop and maintain University of Wyoming Extension (UWE) and College of Agriculture, Life Sciences, and Natural Resources (CALSNR) websites within and outside of the university CMS system; gather and publish information on designated web pages using web-based software tools. Assist others with their departmental websites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, develop and maintain UWE and CALSNR main and subordinate website pages by using web-based software tools.
Collaborate with communications and web colleagues as needed to produce integrated multimedia web products
Assist departments with the design and/or development of college/department level websites. Help users troubleshoot college/department websites.
Market UWE and CALSNR website for greater visibility and accessibility.
Confirm that websites meet current accessibility guidelines.
Check and correct links throughout the sites; troubleshoot problems with appropriate personnel.
Coordinate with communications team and other web users to develop policy recommendations for appropriate use of web resources.
Maintain currency with innovations in web design trends and explore ways to implement these on UWE and CALSNR sites
Collaborate with other campus units, particularly IT and Institutional Marketing, to leverage opportunities in web design
Provide training for Extension specialists, educators, and staff to allow them to manage and edit assorted websites as appropriate
Ensure security of websites and domains using current software and regular updates
Discuss and/or refer technical issues to the appropriate personnel in the Division of Information Technology
Implement systems to track web analytics and use information gathered to improve websites
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in integrating web, social media, mobile, and multimedia products as needed
Provide graphic support for websites and publications

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and 1 year work related experience OR 5 years total work related experience (equivalent combination of education & experience)
Demonstrated ability to create functional websites using current authoring languages, tools, and platforms
Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:
Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the
University Vehicle Use Policy

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree preferred
Experience working in higher education, preferably at Land-Grant Universities and within Cooperative Extension
Substantial experience with Wordpress (or similar CMS) including knowledge of security best practices, assorted plugins, control panels, mobile design, and accessibility
Advanced knowledge of web analytics and how to leverage analytics to improve user experience and site traffic
Experience creating databases (using HTML, CSS, C-panels, handcoding, etc)
Demonstrated ability to manipulate and edit photos and visual material to enhance web design
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: - Established programming procedures and programming languages.
- Internet/intranet network systems.
- Principles, procedures, and standards of integrated website structuring and design.
- Electronic filing systems and document archives.
- Computer applications for website development.
- Current alternatives in available website software and hardware.
- Current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools, and related website technologies.
- Internet operations and functionality, and a wide range of internet programming and design tools.
- Photo editing, computer graphics development and layout.
- Standard FTP, link checking, and accessibility software
- HTML, DHTML, CSS, ASP, JavaScript, PHP, web page creation, and website maintenance.
Skills and Abilities to: - Effectively manage time and schedules.

- Use computerized page layout and design software.
- Evaluate new and evolving website technologies.
- Plan effective and organized website (s).

- Develop policy recommendations related to website development/usage.
- Translate technical information into user-friendly program documentation.
