About the IDD Education Center

The mission of the IDD Education Center is to foster quality life experiences for people with disabilities through innovative research, education, and services.

UC's IDD Education Center programs support transition age youth and adults with a wide range of intellectual and developmental disabilities to discover and fulfill their purpose. Transition services are about more than managing life on campus. These services are essential for empowering young people and adults to realize their full potential and taking their places in the world – a world that is enriched through their contributions.

Collaboration for Employment and Education Synergy (CEES) is a high school transition program at the University of Cincinnati designed for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities ages 14-21. CEES offers a 12-week individualized transition curriculum to help young adults determine how their interests and abilities can be applied in the workplace. Students also gain valuable life skills that increase their ability to live and work more independently.

Job Overview

Plan, design, evaluate, modify, and coordinate independent programs for the Collaboration for Education and Employment Synergy (CEES) program. This position plays a pivotal role in facilitating the successful transition of students with disabilities from high school to post-secondary education, vocational training, employment, and independent living.

Essential Functions

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive transition programs tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities.

  • Develop, administer and
analyze assessments to identify student's strengths, preferences, interests and support needs.

  • Develop and provide individualized guidance and support to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in navigating personalized transition planning in collaboration with their families and relevant professionals.

  • Interact with staff, faculty, external agencies, other university departments, school administrators, teachers, counselors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with academic standards and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Identify and implement evidence-based practices and innovative strategies to enhance transition outcomes for students.

  • May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time

Required Education

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Experience

One (1) year of program coordination experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Completion of 40 hours of training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and competency assessment conducted by a qualified supervisor.
  • Current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCBA).
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Ability to follow behavior intervention plans and implement behavior management techniques with fidelity.
  • Proficiency in data collection, documentation, and report writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with colleagues and caregivers.

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

  • The salary range for this position is between $40,000 and $50,000 based on qualifications.
