Job Overview

The Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications from qualified candidates to fill one postdoctoral research position in Dr. Esfandiari's Laboratory. The position is full-time for a period of one year, but may be extended to two years pending continued research funding and upon annual performance evaluation.

Dr. Esfandiari welcomes applications from exceptional postdoctoral candidates interested in pursuing interdisciplinary research in the following areas:

  • Investigating the role of Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) in Tissue Regeneration and particularly in Nerve Regeneration.
  • Utilizing the Lab on a Chip and Microfluidic devices for EVs purification and characterization.
  • Utilizing biocompatible materials including conductive and piezoelectric biomaterials for stimulating the cells in a biomimetic microenvironment.

Essential Functions

  • The postdoctoral fellow will be joining a collaborative team including the Principal Investigator, scientists and faculty at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and UC College of Medicine.
  • The postdoctoral fellow will work on design and development of new protocols, data analysis, prepare manuscripts and grant proposals, and mentor graduate and undergraduate research assistants.
  • The position provides mentoring for postdoctoral scholars for advancing to an independent investigator.

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. or MD degree in biomedical sciences, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, material science, or a related engineering or science discipline.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience on working with extracellular vesicles.
  • The position requires a highly motivated and independent researcher with background on biomedical sciences.
  • The candidate also needs to have knowledge on cell and molecular biology and have the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
