The Organic Repair Capability Assessors (ORCA) provides material assessment support and crew training to U.S. Navy ships located in both East Coast CONUS and OCONUS fleet concentration areas. ORCA members prepare ships crews for shipboard self-repair in support of the COMNAFSURLANT Type Commander (TYCOM).

The Marine Engineering Analyst is part of a dynamic team of Navy Subject Matter Experts in Norfolk, VA.

In this role, you will:

• Provide support to Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Atlantic (CNSL) Engineering Readiness Assistance Training Team (ERAT).
• Provide best recommendations to keep a warship ready for combat.
• Utilize resource experiences to provide candid guidance to the team and to the ships crew for expanding the ships crews knowledge with insightful methodology. This role is essential to the outcome of ships material condition and readiness.
• Assess ships Organic Repair Capability and provide a detailed shortfall list of items that are required in the various workshops and special tools that are specific to the ship class.
• Responsible to make note of manning shortfalls for critical NECs and repair rates.
• Responsible for maintenance/training staff experience (e.g. Immediate Superior In Charge (ISIC), Type Commander (TYCOM), or Afloat Training Group).
• Manage analyses, information system operations, and implementation of technical projects.
• Prepare briefs as needed and review and correct briefs for format, grammar and spelling.
• Ability to effectively translate and communicate technical details to senior leadership.
• In-depth knowledge of Navy ship depot level maintenance processes.
• In-depth knowledge of the theory and workings of surface ship maintenance processes.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• BA/BS or Associate degree, or 3 years demonstrated experience in a management role.
  • In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 3 years applicable work experience.
• Graduate of the associated Navy A and C schools and be considered an expert in the required field.
• Active Secret Security Clearance required.
  • Sponsorship is not available.
• Must have experience in providing training and assessments at the senior technical level.
• Must be able to travel 50%

Additional desired experience and skills:

• Minimum 20 years Navy experience as an E-7 or above
• Experience shall be within the last 5 years.
• Maintenance/training staff experience (e.g. Immediate Superior In Charge (ISIC), Type Commander (TYCOM), or Afloat Training Group)
• Navy shipboard experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
