The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector Health IT Division is seeking a Senior GCP Solution Architect with extensive knowledge and expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) technologies and architecture. The Senior GCP Solution Architect will play a pivotal role in the cloud migration journey for Federal Health customers, and will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions on the GCP platform, ensuring a scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure that aligns with end user research and operational needs. The Senior GCP Solution Architect will collaborate closely with SecDevOps teams, stakeholders, and GCP representatives to deliver innovative solutions that accelerate cloud adoption. The Senior GCP Solution Architect will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the customer enterprise, external partners, and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to ensure a seamless transition while minimizing disruptions to operations.

Candidate must be local to the DC Metro area for onsite work and be a US Citizen or US Person with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Primary Responsibilities:

Candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of GCP services, infrastructure components, security best practices, and architectural patterns. Candidate will guide users on the optimal selection and configuration of GCP resources to meet their specific needs and will be responsible for successful delivery of activities across the enterprise, including:

Cloud Architecture Design:

1. Help users conceptualize and design comprehensive GCP solutions, providing guidance on resource allocation, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
2. Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud architecture blueprints for enterprise applications and workloads.
3. Evaluate and recommend the most suitable GCP services and configurations for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
4. Design scalable and resilient cloud solutions that meet workload owners’ specific requirements.
5. Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like GCP Deployment Manager and Terraform.

Solution Implementation:

1. Lead the implementation of cloud solutions, including the migration of existing applications and the development of new cloud-native applications.
2. Assist in the implementation process, offering insights on deployment strategies, automation, and monitoring.
3. Configure and optimize GCP services, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
4. Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.

Technical Guidance and Support:

1. Provide expert technical guidance to IT teams and stakeholders on GCP best practices, architecture patterns, and troubleshooting techniques.
2. Mentor and train junior cloud engineers on GCP technologies and solution design principles.
3. Collaborate with GCP representatives to leverage their expertise and stay informed on the latest GCP offerings.
4. Identify and resolve issues in existing GCP environments, analyze performance bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
5. Provide expert advice on GCP-related topics, such as cloud migration strategies, security hardening, compliance requirements, and integration with other systems.

Performance Optimization:

1. Monitor cloud performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
2. Conduct regular reviews of cloud infrastructure and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
3. Ensure that cloud solutions are highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster-resilient.

Security and Compliance:

1. Design and implement cloud security controls to protect end user data and applications.
2. Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, regulations, and policies.
3. Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential risks.

Basic Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 12+ years of experience architecting and implementing GCP cloud solutions.
2. Google Certified: GCP Solutions Architect Professional certification.
3. Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex migrations with multiple stakeholders.
4. Experience with GCP cloud technologies and migration strategies.
5. Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (Deployment Manager, Terraform) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
6. Experience with GCP DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
7. Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
8. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
9. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
11. ITIL Foundations certification.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Deep understanding of GCP services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, etc.) and their integration.
2. Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) and experience with automation frameworks.
3. Experience delivering IT services in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or in a biomedical research environment.
4. One or more of the following certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
