Your Role on the Team

The Investigator performs complaint resolution of formal and informal complaints of discrimination, harassment, sexual violence and retaliation. The Investigator conducts research on state and federal laws regarding discrimination and equal opportunity laws and regulations and assists in developing and implementing training programs and workshops designed to educate the University community about compliance, sexual violence, discrimination and harassment prevention and response. The Investigator escalates the most complex issues to management.

The Investigator functions as a resource in OEOD compliance specialty programs. Assists in ensuring the University has comprehensive processes for investigations, and coordinated responses for compliance program(s) within purview. Ensures alignment with federal and state laws, and University policies and procedures.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $85,400.00- $96,200.00 (Annual).

Required

  • Knowledge of ethics and compliance profession, theories and systems of internal control, and professional compliance and investigations standards.
  • Knowledge of University ethics and compliance policies, procedures and programs.
  • Applies thorough ethics and compliance concepts and applications in the completion of assignments. Skills in problem-solving.
  • Ability to gather, organize, complete analysis and develop recommendations in the completion of assignments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups. Skills in coalescing viewpoints and facilitating outcomes in group settings.
  • Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
  • Exceptional writing skills. Demonstrated ability to write detailed, well-organized, publishable analytical reports, procedures, correspondence, and/or memos. Ability to interact and communicate with individuals from various cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to utilize technology including computer and software for word processing, power point, presentation software and on-line research.
  • Ability to work with sensitive data and preserve confidentiality, meet deadlines and maintain objectivity.
  • Ability to manage and maintain accurate and organized files.
  • Research skills, including internet and legal research.
  • Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to EEO/Affirmative Action laws. Working knowledge of employment practices, procedures, and laws. Working knowledge of university policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Interview and/or investigation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action.

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training


Preferred

  • Thorough knowledge of discrimination law, Violence Against Women Act, Title IX, Clery Act, Whistleblower and Whistleblower Retaliation laws.
  • Bilingual language skills.
  • Experience using a case management system.
  • Experience with Clery reporting.
  • Experience performing investigations in a healthcare setting.


Special Conditions

  • This position may be required to report at different work sites between the campus in Irvine and medical center in Orange. The incumbent must be able to provide their own means of transportation to/from work locations.
  • Position eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
