Housing Intern Salary $16.00 - $18.00 Hourly Location Boise City Hall, ID Job Type Intern Job Number 23 -06539 Department Mayor's Office Division Housing Partnerships Opening Date 01/29/2024 Closing Date 2/19/2024 12:00 PM Mountain + Description + Benefits + Questions Summary Statement The Mayor's Office is looking for two self-motivated, policy-focused interns interested in ensuring that Boiseans have safe, healthy, affordable homes. Interns will conduct broad policy research, as well as quantitative and qualitative research related to housing in Boise, with a likely focus on residents' experiences of health and safety issues and housing quality. This will require interviewing residents, housing providers, and staff at service-providing nonprofits. Interns will provide relevant policy recommendations in the form of a written report and a presentation for relevant stakeholders at the conclusion of their internship. The interns' work schedule will be largely self-determined, with the option to work both in person and remotely (although some in-person meetings will be required). Essential Functions Required Knowledge and Experience: + Strong interest in issues related to housing. Knowledge and experience in a housing-related field are a plus, but not required. + Experience in policy advocacy, analysis, and research within the government or non-profit sector. + Flexibility and strong time management skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and implement multiple projects simultaneously and to manage tight deadlines and unexpected tasks as they arise. + Excellent written and oral communication experience as well as the ability to synthesize complex information from a variety of sources. + Experience working with diverse community partners and a proven track record of successful, mutually respectful relationships within a professional network.
