Description:

Position Title : Weaver

Report to: Plant Supervisor

Major Functions: Knowledge of all functions of the weaving operation.

Competency Requirements:

Qualification:

General . Employees must….

• Understand the flow of work between twisting, bobbin rewinding, and looms, and move material into holding areas in accordance with this flow.
• Understand the production schedule.
• Know how to safely and properly handle (and lift) materials and jackets in all areas.
• Operate Machinery at an acceptable rate.
• Properly label and identify ply, yarns, and fabric.
• Have knowledge of yarns, plies, and twist levels of yarns. Understand the basic constructions and quality standards of of jackets.
• Keep all areas, machines, and floors clean.
• Have the ability to demonstrate skills to less knowledgeable operators, as needed.

Bobbin Winder . Employees must….

• Keep full twister spools stocked by the winders.
• Keep pace with demand at the looms.
• Deliver bobbins to the proper bins at the looms.
• Start wind at proper location and in proper direction.

Creel Attendant. Employees must…

• Put the proper yarn on the proper creels (for jobs being run)
• Gang Creel looms.
• Identify and correct problem spools.
• Perform creel changes at acceptable rate.
• Monitor and maintain splicing creels.

Loom Operator. Employee must…

• Change filler yarn bobbins.
• Know how to cut fabric from the looms.
• Identify and repair single end breaks.
• Identify weaving faults and request proper support as needed.
• Keep looms and floor clean.

Inspector. Employee must…

• Identify repairable fabric vs. scrap fabric.
• Repair single skips.
• Inspect fabric at an acceptable rate.

Required Skills and Ability:

• Employee must be physically able to work in areas so as to not harm themselves or others, and must be able to safely use machinery and tools.
• Understand and verify quality through the use of gauges, tools, specs, and charts.
• Employee must understand how to fill out all paperwork for all areas.
• Must work well as a team.
• Employee must be able to communicate with the lead, quality tech, or supervisor any issues they may find that affects the performance of the area, or product.
• Skill level – entry level.
• Other activities as designated by supervisor. May include, but not limited to the following…

Work Environment:

Employee may be exposed to moving machinery, loud noise and vibration. Employees may be exposed to dust.

Education/Training Requirement:

This position required on the job training. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED must be held by employee to qualify for this position.
