Job Description

As a Machine Operator at General Devices Co Inc, you will use both hand- and power-tools to assemble metal structures of various types following work instructions, prints, or other graphic representations to ensure you build the product to customer specifications.

Shift is generally 6 AM to 2:30 PM. Some overtime may be required

Starting pay rate is typically $18 per hour

• Inspect parts for the operations performed at your workstation and at previous workstations to ensure that they meet defined quality standards at each phase of the production process.
• Drill, ream, tap, bore, etc., a wide variety of large and complicated parts to close tolerances.
• Lay out work from prints.
• Perform difficult set-ups on irregular shaped parts and where alignment and accuracy are difficult to maintain.
• Select feeds, speeds, tooling, coolant, determine sequence of operations and fixtures needed.
• Requires the ability to read calipers, gauges, etc.
• Will advise and direct other employees when necessary.
• Must practice Company Safety Guidelines and OSHA Requirements for all areas.
• May be asked to work in a variety of different departments and/or operate various machines depending upon need.
• Perform other related and non-related duties as assigned.

• Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2 years of Metal manufacturing/Drill Press experience preferred
• Experience using both hand- and power- tools

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform tasks
• Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
• Physical requirements include the ability to walk and stand the entire shift, arm and hand mobility, lifting 50 - 75 lbs. intermittently
