Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS) manages one of the most challenging radioactive waste cleanup projects in the country. Join the Closure and Interim Measures (C&IM) team, where you'll play a crucial role in closing tank farm facilities and safeguarding public health and the environment.
The C&IM group focuses on the field characterization, regulatory documentation, and technical analysis necessary for tank farm closure. Our work supports the Tank Farm Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Closure Plans and Corrective Action Program, involving field data collection, lab analyses, data quality assessment, fate and transport modeling, and risk assessments to address contamination issues from past tank leaks and releases.
The C&IM team includes a diverse group of scientists, engineers, numerical modeling professionals and data visualization specialists. Our group prepares a variety of professional technical deliverables that all require production, editing and formatting before submitting to management, the US Department of Energy (DOE), Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology), and various regulators. Technical editor/writers support C&IM with production, editing, formatting and completion of:
Technical Reports, Plans, and White Papers (ranging from 20 to 1200 pages)
Journal Articles and Publications (ranging from 4 to 40 pages)
Calculation Packages (ranging from 50 to 700 pages)
Presentation Materials (ranging from 5 to 50 pages)

Procedures, Desk Instructions, and Guides (ranging from 5 to 50 pages)
Under general to minimal supervision, you will support the following duties and responsibilities:
Research, organize, write, edit, format, index, revise and produce technical documents and provide editorial support, as requested, for the generation, revision and submittal of the C&IM and support group's regulatory and technical documentation.
Ensure flow-down and implementation of WRPS and DOE document production (editing, formatting, word usage, abbreviations, etc.) style guides and formatting requirements.
Creating, set up, organizing, and maintaining electronic files.
Assisting in the finalization of document submittal packages by assembling various file types and preparing report documentation for transmittal.
Research reference material, assist in the process of clearing material for public access, and complete the action of getting all reference material in the administrative record.
Streamline document production by helping or developing C&IM specific "boiler plate" content that can be applied to various documents (e.g., Site specific background, introduction sections to the C&IM group, etc.).
Ensures documents/procedures are developed, reviewed, approved, and distributed to appropriate personnel in accordance with the established approval process cycle.
Ensures that technical and engineering documents such as vendor manuals, diagrams, charts, blueprints, and standards are reviewed and accurately integrated into documents/procedures.
Routinely works on project documents involving complex regulatory, engineering, scientific or technological concepts, and represents these projects and project areas to management.
Recommends overall organization and layout, editorial standards, publication methods and the like. * Develops department editing standards and styles.
May assume lead role for special assignments or special projects of short to mid-range duration.
Required Qualifications
Grade 16:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience
Grade 17:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 6 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience

Grade 18:
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in related field and 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or related experience

Desired Qualifications
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable to convey ideas and information with peers and management.
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams for report preparation and results presentation.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, sufficient to edit written content.
Demonstrated experience with production, editing, formatting technical reports, plans, tables, publications, etc. for professional use.
Experience with development of document style guides and templates.
Experience managing competing priorities and ability to determine when to delegate (e.g., use of a subcontractor) or when to self-perform.
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, WRPS takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made within the targeted hiring range posted. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.
Hiring Range Minimum: $86,138
Hiring Range Maximum: $131,425
