POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring that all contract requirements are fulfilled within the specified schedule and budget. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully managing and overseeing multiple construction projects for governmental agencies, including TxDOT, the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and small municipalities. This position requires a strong understanding of construction budgets, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors. The APM will collaborate with other project managers to request resources, share schedules, and eliminate scheduling conflicts.

YOUR ROLE
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing multiple civil construction projects, including those related to electrical systems, ITS, traffic signals, and concrete flatwork.
• Collaborate with other project managers to request resources, equipment, and share schedules to avoid conflicts.
• Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
• Work closely with governmental agencies (TxDOT, City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and others) to ensure all contract requirements are met.
• Responsible for managing a direct report to facilitate all administrative needs of the project.
• Monitor and manage construction budgets, including costs related to labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial forecasts.
• Identify and mitigate any potential budget overruns or financial risks.
• Develop and maintain weekly project schedules in collaboration with the project superintendent and foreman, to ensure production goals are met.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring that all phases of the project are completed according to the timeline.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Review and understand contract documents to ensure compliance with all project requirements.
• Assist in the preparation and negotiation of change orders and contract modifications.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with project team members, clients, and stakeholders.
• Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and clients.
• Attend project-related meetings, whether on-site or in person at the Owner's offices

WHAT YOU BRING
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in civil construction project management, with specific experience in electrical systems, ITS, traffic signals, and concrete flatwork.
• Experience working with governmental agencies such as TxDOT, City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and small municipalities.
• Strong understanding of construction budgets, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Primavera, HCSS Heavy Job, and Spectrum Viewpoint is preferred.
• Proficient in project management software and tools.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal construction regulations and safety standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Assistant Project Manager for the Traffic Signals Division must be able to work effectively in both office and field environments. The role requires frequent visits to construction sites, which involves walking, standing, and occasionally lifting 50 pounds. Candidates should be comfortable working in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain. The position also demands the ability to use standard office equipment, such as computers and phones, and to navigate construction sites safely. Good physical stamina and dexterity are essential for managing the demands of project oversight and fieldwork.
