Department of Revenue is recruiting for an Appraiser Analyst 4 (AA4) position. We are looking for a talented, detail-oriented individual to join our Property Tax Division on the Timber/Farm/Forest Team. This position is headquartered in our Salem office; however, the successful candidate may be eligible for in state hybrid work. Hybrid work consists of performing duties onsite in a standard office environment and working remotely.

A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

What You Will Be Doing

Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.

  • Conducts, reviews, or leads a team in the administration of the following:

    • Farm/Forest Special Assessment

    • Appraisal Manuals and Factor Books

    • Residential, commercial, industrial and other special use properties

    • Timber tax programs, including Forestland Valuation Modeling

  • Testifies at formal and informal hearings and in court where special appraisal expertise is required.

  • Leads a team’s work activities in the following: planning, coordinating, assigning, and reviewing staff work.

  • Participates in the administration of other section-wide programs or appraisal activities.

This Is What You Need To Qualify


Must possess Registered Appraiser status through the State of Oregon Department of Administrative Services or the ability to obtain within six months of hire AND one of the following:


Seven (7) years of experience in appraisals, accounting, or auditing. Two years of this experience must have been in conducting market value appraisals of commercial, industrial, or public utility properties; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, real estate, business administration, forestry, engineering, or a related field AND four (4) years of appraisal experience; OR
An associate degree in property appraisal or real estate technology or a related field AND five and a half (5.5) years of appraisal experience.

Appraisal experience must be obtained under appraiser registration, licensure or certification granted by a state regulatory agency.


This position requires a valid State of Oregon driver's license.
